News: IP Address Changed for Shared Linux Hosting - Email Service Impacted

Published: 05/07/2015

Dear Customers,

We wanted to inform all the shared linux hosting users that the IP for the server has changed.

The old IP was - 198.105.221.91

Now the new IP is - 209.95.52.134

The reason for changing the IP was the recent global wordpress hack attacks that led to hackers using our server IP to send out SPAM bulk emails. For security & IP reputation reasons, we had to change the IP.

Do I need to change anything on my end?
===================================
No, You do not have to make any changes from your end, the new IP has been assigned to our nameservers and your domains will be reflecting the new IP already.

How does this Impact you?
=======================
The only impact a new IP brings is that for few days your emails from the server might land up in the SPAM folder of your recipients. This is because global email providers like Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook etc. are not yet familiar with the new IP. Any new IP starts with 0 reputation and it takes a few days before these email providers start recognizing the new IP. For few days, you can request your recipients to check their SPAM folder and also mark your emails as NOT SPAM to help us improve the IP reputation. In few days, the IP will gain some reputation and your emails will star reaching the Inbox instead of SPAM folder.

Is there an alternative for emails?
============================
Yes, if you wish not to use our shared server for your email requirements, we strongly recommend using a business email service like google apps mail or zoho mail. These services are dedicated to email services and provide you with robust and secure email solutions. If you want to know more about setting up a business email on your domain, open a support ticket and we will guide you through the process.

We will also be sending out an email explaining how you can protect your accounts & wordpress/joomla websites from hackers. If you want us to look into your website for security issues, open a support ticket and we will look into your account.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

If you have any doubts regarding this, feel free to open a support ticket or call us, we will be glad to help you.
